Profile
I am Barbara Del Perugia, I graduated at the University of Florence where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Forest and Environmental Sciences and a Master's degree in Forest science (110/110 cum laude). I’ve done two Erasmus experiences in other European’s Universities (Spain and Finland). For my master internship I’ve worked on the FORMITproject’s report on forest growth and management strategies in Europe, particularly focusing on Mediterranean countries. I’m the PhD student’s representative in the PhD Board.
Research interests and PhD project
My PhD is about “Analysis of remote sensing data for the detection and management of forest resources”. For my research I use LIDAR technology (aereal and terrestrial), UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and Satellite images to quantify tree attributes in forest ecosystems and to improve automatic classification systems. I’m currently working on a Life project “Fresh LIFE” (Demonstrating Remote Sensing integration in sustainable forest management).
